Maddi and I have been close friends for over 15 years. Early in our friendship we would commonly discuss how we want to raise our children. I became a Secondary Education Teacher and saw the “result” of Public Education. Even though I loved and adored my students, I could see cracks where the system was failing them. In response to COVID mandates, Maddi took her young kids out of Elementary school and started her homeschooling journey. Homeschooling has its beautiful pros, but it also has its cons. Homeschooling wasn’t the perfect fit for Maddi and her family. Public School wasn't the best fit either. I had my kids in Public School for a couple of years and I started seeing those same cracks I noticed back when I was a teacher and how they were already affecting my children. 

We had to make a change! A few years ago, we were introduced to the concept of a Microschool learning environment. The research quickly began, conversations started and a dear friend suggested the name, “Seed School”. Maddi and I owned a Dance Studio at the time and we had an amazing space available. So with the studio’s help, we took a leap of faith and launched 2022-2023 Seed School. To our dismay, we didn’t get enough students that first year. So we continued on with Homeschool (Maddi’s family) and Public School (Shalese’s family). Throughout that year we became determined to make this dream a reality! We launched 2023-2024 Seed School and the spots slowly started to fill! We had parents sharing our same vision and voicing their desire for an alternative route of education. 

Our 2023-2024 Seed School in Brigham City has been magical. We have the most incredible teachers who have helped make the dream a reality. Parent’s started seeing the results of taking their children out of the “pressure cooker” that Public School can be. (Please note: we are not anti public school, but we feel that there should be more options available in the world of Education) Our students were happier overall, they started excelling in subjects and working ahead. They also started asking for an extra day because they missed their friends too much over the weekend! Our vision started sprouting! 

We launched our 2024-2025 Seed School in Bear River City  (west of Brigham City) and our spots were filled in a day and we have a waitlist of parents eager to get their children into this program. We were approached to open an Ogden location, and our “Pleasant View” location was born. We are humbled and grateful for God’s hands in all of this. The future generation deserves the best of the best. They deserve safety, protection, love and a childhood. We built this for our babies, and are slowly, but surely, finding our tribe who has similar beliefs!
